granted a 6.5% increase for the 2000-01 year.
That increase is a combination of a 4.17% cost-of-living increase
approved earlier this month by Gov. Gray Davis, a 1.24% growth fund
increase and an extra 1.09% bonus because the employees agreed to extend
their contracts until June 30, 2002, said John Renley, vice chancellor of
human resources.
The growth fund increase came because of an increase in full-time
student enrollment.
"Everyone was pleased," Renley said. "It's the biggest increase we've
had in some time."
Along with KOCE-TV, the district encompasses OCC, Coastline College
and Golden West College.
Adjunct faculty members were not included in the raise because they
are a year behind in contract negotiations with the district. However,
they were granted the 3% increase other union groups received for
1999-2000 year.
