COSTA MESA - The fourth grade Costa Mesa Bulls from the Harbor Area
Boys and Girls Club of Costa Mesa charged through the opposition en route
to the league championship.
Not bad for a team that had a regular season record of 2-8.
After upsets over the No. 4 and No. 2 seeded teams in the first two
rounds of the playoffs, the Bulls stunned the No. 1 ranked and undefeated
team in the third round and gained a bye in the fourth round.
In the championship game, the Bulls trailed early, 19-2, before
outscoring their foes, 32-12, the rest of the way.
Bucko Theriot led the Bulls with 23 points in the title game, while
strong play was turned in by Scott Vackar and Justin Bailey.
