Olson, Kush sparkle

HUNTINGTON BEACH - Two Newport Harbor High golfers, senior Kevin

Olson and sophomore Daniel Kush, qualified for the CIF Individual

Championships in Palm Springs next week, following Monday's endeavors at

SeaCliff Country Club.

One of three regional individual tournaments, the Sailors were two of 24

to make the cut at 78 and move on to the finals.

Olson was third overall with a two-over 74, keyed by an eagle on the

440-yard No. 2, and birdies on four other holes.

On the par-three No. 10, he was two inches within the cup for a

hole-in-one, and his teammate, Kush, came within 10 inches, according to

their coach, Jim Warren.

Kush birdied three of the last four holes to card a 75, seventh overall.

Sharing medalist honors with 71s were Jay Choi of Cerritos and Brian

Sinay of University.
