Club soccer: Slammers take state crown

February 24, 2000

LANCASTER - The Newport Beach Slammers, a boys under 11 club soccer

team captured the California State Championship in the open division with

a shootout win over the San Diego Surf.

After the game ended in a 3-3 tie, two overtime periods could not decide

a winner.

Finally in a shootout, goals by Richard Gadbois, Oscar Aguero, Logan

Condon, Adam Holstein and Jarrett Daniel proved enough for the win.
