Prep football: Tars Stewart, Jones, All-Southern Section

Newport Harbor High senior football standouts Andre Stewart and

Blair Jones earned their place in exclusive company, as members of the

coaches' All-Southern Section team, selected from all 13 divisions.

Stewart, the CIF Division VI Offensive Player of the Year and a

record-setting tailback, was among five running backs chosen to the

first-team offense, which included 21 players.

Jones, a three-year starter at offensive tackle for the Division VI

champion Sailors, was among seven linemen named to the 21-member

first-team offense.

Other than the Harbor duo, only Irvine senior middle linebacker Mike

Patterson, the Division VI Defensive Player of the Year, was recognized

all-section among Sea View or Pacific Coast League players.
