Millennium Moment

Costa Mesa resident Hank Panian taught history at OCC for 34 years

before retiring in 1990, racking up the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce's

Man of the Year award in 1981 in the process.

Panian was a key figure in developing OCC scholarships and

organizations such as the UCI Transfer Scholarship and the Professional

Development Institute.

The teacher also served as president of the Mesa Consolidated Water

District and was a board member for a dozen years. He is also a founding

member of the Costa Mesa Community Foundation.
